Value of Pension Planning

We are living longer and spending longer in retirement and this is due to social conditions and better medicine. This will only continue to increase. Therefore it is important to plan appropriately at an early age.

Most people focus on the here and now when considering pension planning instead of focusing on what they will need later in life. It is very important to consider the full picture, your aspirations and needs when at planning stage.

A number of questions you may wish to ask yourself when thinking about retirement planning.

  1. At what age would you like to retire?

  2. What income would you like to retire with?

  3. Do you have any capital need in retirement?

  4. How would you like to access your pension benefit? For example would you like to take the maximum tax-free cash (PCLS)?

  5. Do you feel that long-term care is an important factor?

Once all the objectives and details are collated, we can help you establish:

  1. How much of your pension need is already provided for?

  2. Is there any shortfall and how can this gap be funded?

HM Revenue and Customs practice and the law relating to taxation are complex and subject to individual circumstances and changes which cannot be foreseen
